When it comes to ADA access, PDPlay-engineered Wood Fiber provides a very cost-effective alternative to the rubberized surfacing. When properly maintained, this resilient surfacing provides ADA access to the entire playground site. PDPlay-engineered Wood Fiber surfacing does not compact as much as sand, and when installed to the proper depth and maintained, it provides excellent protection against falls.
Cost: $62 cu yd. Installed price. Based on non-prevailing wage rates in San Diego County with good access. Excludes subbase preparation and filter fabric. Available in other locations and at prevailing wage rates.
The recommended compacted depth under playground equipment is 12”. Fabric over a 4”-6” bed of gravel. Provide site drains as needed.
